My mind would have been blown so hard I probably would have had to go to the ER. Had this restaurant existed during my annual visits to Walt Disney World in the 1990s, I would have begged my parents to dine here. In case it’s not readily apparent, 8-year old “Lom” is me, circa 1993. Suffice to say, dinosaurs weren’t just an interest, they were a way of life. Virtually all money he earned from chores was used to purchase Jurassic Park playsets he made Jurassic parks out of LEGOs he even created an “extra credit” mural in school that consisted of painting various dinosaurs and writing facts about them underneath (banish the thought that he was a teacher’s pet–one teacher made the incisive comparison of him to Calvin from Calvin & Hobbes, which was probably not praise). After watching–and re-watching…and re-watching…and–this masterpiece, he became obsessed with dinosaurs. Meet 8-year old…let’s call him “Lom.” A fan of dinosaurs since first learning about them via some seriously awesome fruit snacks (and trading cards that came with them) that he consumed like they were one of the 4 food groups (back then, there were only 4 food groups!), he experienced an event that forever shaped the future of the United States: Jurassic Park debuted in theaters. To give some context to this review, I should probably introduce you to someone. However, it does offer a 10% Annual Passholder discount. T-REX is a 1-credit restaurant on the Disney Dining Plan, but does not accept Tables in Wonderland. The cuisine is primarily standard American fare that will appeal to a broad cross-section of guests ( menu). It is literally set in a prehistoric world, with meteor showers and giant prehistoric creatures including dinosaurs and Woolly Mammoth. I hope if you visit TRex you will enjoy not only the meal but also the experience.T-Rex Cafe is a dinosaur-themed table service restaurant in Disney Springs at Walt Disney World that is aimed primarily at families with small children. However it is best to visit here after your meal because if any of your party is browsing in the shop rather than with their party when your table is called they will not seat a partial party. as well as a Build a Dino shop in the back where you can create your own dinosaur. Here you will find lots of tee shirts, key rings, etc. There is actually a gift shop inside the restaurant. I have heard however it is well worth it for Dinosaur mad kids. We have yet to eat here but apparently the menu is quite vast although a little more expensive than usual although most restaurants seem to be in this area. About every 20 minutes there is a simulated meteor shower that makes all the animated dinosaurs go crazy and the noise level doubles for a few minutes while all the lights go down and overhead looks like a lightening storm. Be prepared for a lot of noise (as you also get in Rainforest Café) although I have heard some adults complain about this others say it is not worse than you get in McDonalds. The bar looks like a big block of ice! It is advisable to take a jumper anyway as the restaurant can be quite cold.Īpparently there are numerous photo opportunities around the restaurant. There are several dining areas and also a bar that adults may sit at to eat if they wish. Although the queues seem to be long the wait is usually less then half an hour.Īs you are taken to your table you see that the restaurant had incredible themeing and the dinosaurs are fantastic, they actually move and roar! The Dinosaurs have signs by them to indicate what type they are so not only are the children being amused and fed but educated as well! Once you are seated you will see that even the tables are themed. You will find the sand area to the right of the safari car it is sometimes difficult to see when there is a queue.Īs they are not yet accepting reservations you need first to check in at a podium outside and wait for your “expedition” party to be called. There is a stroller parking area outside the restaurant as well as a fenced area where the kids can play in the sand and find some bones. For the next few months they will not be accepting reservations. It is situated near McDonald’s and Fulton’s. T Rex has a prime location in Downtown Disney as it is the first thing you see when you pull into the car park. If you have ever been to the latter you will see a lot of similarities between the two restaurants. The restaurant is owned by Landry who also own Rainforest Café. This is the latest restaurant to open at Downtown Disney have opened mid October 2008. T Rex Restaurant at Downtown Disney - Orlando / Florida Guide
